Sunlight, music and action were the order of the day on Saturday at the Alton Lions’ eighth annual Party in the Park. The crowds gathered in Alton’s Public Gardens for a day of fun and fundraising all in aid of supporting young people with disabilities who attend Treloar School and College in Holybourne.
The theme of this year’s event was ‘circus’ and 100s of visitors enjoyed attractions including: a circus play area where children learnt to juggle, go on stilts, spin plates etc, great live music- rock, jazz, celtic, circus performances, children’s face painting, Punch and Judy and a tattoo parlour!! With Elvis driving around in a convertible car, no one seemed to know what to expect next!!
JC Solicitors was delighted to be one of the many local businesses to be supporting this worthy event once again. From the JC ‘Big-Top’ tent (ok more of a ‘small-top’ gazebo), we joining in the activities, holding a raffle of items donated by over 30 generous local businesses which included massage vouchers, sports wear, food and drink and meals out. All proceeds will go to Treloar School and College.
Our free goody bags proved extremely popular as did our ‘Name the polar bear’ competition (his name was Bob) which was won within the first three guesses [Editor: Bob? What kind of name is that for a polar bear? Parky or Snowy surely??!!!].
In all it was a perfect day! Wonderful atmosphere, excellent entertainment, lots of lovely food and drink (we especially enjoyed the Pimms!). Hats off to the first class organisation once again by the Alton Lions team. We’re already looking forward to next year’s event!
