JC Solicitors team up to support the Alton Victorian Cricket Tournament

It’s been 33 years since the first ball was bowled at the annual Alton Victorian Cricket Tournament, and this much-loved local event has gone on to raise over £30,000 for local charities.

Always willing to support local charity events, the team from JC Solicitors turned out at this year’s event to watch 9 local teams dressed in Victorian and period dress bat it out on the hallowed turf at The Butts.

Whilst it was a wet start, the rain seemed to add to the spirit of the tournament with men in dresses slipping and sliding around the pitch!

This unique event is not just about the cricket though! Around the boundaries an abundance of activities made the event a real family day out, with side shows, stalls, children’s’ entertainment, fire performer, a huge bouncy castle and slide, and of course the ever-popular beer tent!

On the JC Solicitors’ stand the team handed out goody bags as well as some legal advice!! The ‘Guess the Number of Sweets in the Jar’ was won by local boy Joshua who, aged just five years old, was just one sweet away from the correct answer with his guess of 158!!! ‘Guess the Name of the Teddy’ wasn’t won, so ‘Archie’ has come to stay at the JC Solicitors’ Alton office and has already made friends with several younger clients.

As the weather picked up in the afternoon visitors tucked into Victorian cream teas organised by The Market pub whilst steam trains on the Watercress provided a lovely back drop to the spectacle on the pitch. Queen Victoria even put in an appearance, carried around on her royal throne by her loyal subjects!

All the proceeds from this year’s event will be donated to Alton Community Association and Community Centre.
